One week in and I'm seeing some pretty good results. The sweating is almost gone entirely, and it was very easy. I'll be honest: it really sounded to good to be true, but it seems to have worked as promised.
I'll continue for the remainder of the two weeks and post an update then. Either it will work and I'll keep the product or I'll return it for a refund. Maybe the sweating is really gone for good as advertised.

Two Week Trial
Ok, since the How to Stop Sweating and Start Living book has a liberal refund policy, I'm going to give it a try for two weeks and see how well (or even if) it works.

Trying something else
I just found this article called How to Stop Sweating and I'm going to try what worked for the author. Reading her article brought back some not-so-pleasant memories of what I went through in school. She tried something called How to Stop Sweating and Start Living and had great results. I'm skeptical but willing to try almost anything.
It seems like I came across this when I was doing some research earlier, but dismissed it at that time. Since I've spent so much already, and this isn't very expensive, I'm going to give it a go.

An ugly rash!
No luck with the Drysol either. It caused a rash when I put a small amount on my forearm. I don't know if I'm allergic to the aluminum or something else in the concoction, but if it keeps causing rashes, it isn't going to stop the sweating.
I don't know if I should go back to the doctor to try something else or just keep looking.

Hyperhidrosis
After trying every over-the-counter solution I could find, I finally decided that it was time to see a doctor. My appointment was last week, and although I have some comfort in knowing what my problem is, I don't feel much closer to a solution.
The doctor told me that I have Hyperhidrosis. From Wikipedia:
She prescribed Drysol which is another aluminum chloride solution. I didn't know it at the time, but it's the same active ingredient that caused the rash I had last month. I'm going to try this on a small spot on my arm before I try it under my arms. Maybe there was another cause behind the previous rash.

Hyperhidrosis (or hyperhydrosis as it's sometimes spelled) is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Primary hyperhidrosis is estimated at around 1% of the population, afflicting men and women equally. That number, however, does not reflect the true number of cases since the condition is not always diagnosed; most patients usually disregard the excessive sweating and it never occurs to them that they might have a medical condition. It commonly has its onset in adolescence.
